“Everyone in Ship’s Landing knew about the Shipwreck Tree. One year the winds were high and the waves higher, and when the sea receded there she was, a funny little ship entangled in the branches of the old tree. The villagers fed and mended the survivors, but not only left the ship in it’s new berth but strung glittering lights in the branches, to enchant the sea into stillness and as a beacon to ships still sailing in nearby waters…”
