Description
I painted this piece after I had buried a small wild rabbit that had succumbed to some kind of illness. I love rabbits, and it broke my heart a little, and I remembered a sort of prayer a lot of rabbit-people have, taken from Watership Down: “My heart has joined the Thousand, for my friend stopped running today.” I wanted this piece to be about compassion and grief, and the things we still don’t truly understand…
9 by 12 inches, watercolor, ink and acrylic paint on mixed media paper.
